How To Hack Orkut ?

Google uses a 4 Level Orkut login which makes it difficult to hack Orkut using brute force attack.

First Level - Security-SSL or 128 bit secured connection

Second Level - Google account checks for cookie in the sytem of user

Third Level - Google provides a redirection to the entered User information

Fourth Level - Google doesn’t use conventional php/aspx/asp coding. So it is impossible to hack Orkut using input validation attack!!!

It is not an easy task to hack Orkut by breaking this security! But still some people manages to get access to other’s Orkut accounts. The question concerned is How they do it? Many of them just use simple tricks that fool users and then they themself leak out their password. Here are some points you need to take care of, to protect your Orkut account being hacked.

"Common Ways to Hack Orkut"

1. Using Keyloggers is one of the Easiest Way to Hack an Orkut (or any other email) password. Keylogger programs can spy on what the user types from the keyboard. If you think that you can just uninstall such programs, you are wrong as they are completely hidden.

A keylogger, sometimes called a keystroke logger, key logger, or system monitor, is a hardware device or small program that monitors each keystroke a user types on a specific computer’s keyboard. Keylogger is the easiest way to hack an Orkut account.

A keylogger program is widely available on the internet. Some of the best ones are listed below

Win-Spy Monitor

Realtime Spy

A detailed information on Keylogger Hack can be found in my post Hacking an Email Account.

2. Phishing Attack is the most popular way of hacking/stealing other’s password. By using fake login pages it is possible to hack Orkut. Here the users land on a page where they are asked for their login information and they enter their Orkut username and password thinking it to be a real page but actually it is other way round. It submits all the entered details to the creator of the fake login page.

3. Orkut New Features: I have come across a page(fake page) that looks like they are giving the user a choice of selecting new features for orkut with your ID and password, of course!! When the user submit’s his/her Orkut login information through this page, there goes his ID and password mailed to the coder.

4. Community Links: Many times you are provided with a link to a community in a scrap. Read the link carefully, It may be something like http://www.okrut.com/Community.aspx?cmm=22910233 OKRUT not ORKUT. This is definitely a trap created by the hacker to hack your Orkut password. Clicking on this link will take you to a fake login page and there you loose up your password.

5. Java script: You must have seen the circulating scraps that asks you to paste this code in your address bar and see what happens! Well sometimes they also leak out your information. Check the code and if you are unsure of what to do, then I recommend not to use it. So be careful, javascripts can even be used to hack Orkut!

6. Primary mail address: If by some means a hacker came to know the password of your Yahoo mail or Gmail, which users normally keeps as their primary mail address in their Orkut account, then hacker can hack Orkut account by simply using USER ID and clicking on ‘forget password’. This way Google will send link to the already hacked primary email ID to change the password of the Orkut account. Hence the email hacker will change your Orkut account’s password. Hence your, Orkut account is hacked too.

So a better thing would be to keep a very unknown or useless email ID of yours as primary email id so that if the hacker clicks on ‘Forgot password’ the password changing link goes to an unknown email id i.e. not known to the hacker. Hence your Orkut account saved.

How To Copy Locked Photos From Orkut?

Yes it’s still possible to copy the photos from Orkut. Here’s a step-by-step procedure to copy the photo.

Just DRAG and DROP the PHOTO onto the current/new TAB (If you have IE 7). That’s it . This trick is working now!!

4. Now the photo gets displayed seperately on your browser.

5. You can Right-Click and select the Save As option to save the photo onto your PC.

The browser also displays the direct link to the photo. This link can be used to share the Orkut photos with your friends without the need to login to your Orkut account to access photos.

Please express your opinions through comments.Cheer Up..

Most of the people ask “How to hack an Orkut account”

I am giving you a detailed information about how to protect your Orkut accounts. As we all know most of the Google services are still in BETA.So,websites like Orkut, powered by Google is not totally secure!Several people feel proud in hacking other user’s account. You do a foolish thing, and next day your account is hacked. This is very sad indeed, but hackers are adding names to their victims list till now.

How can a hacker hack my Orkut account?
The answer to this question is already discussed in my previous post Hacking Orkut.

But this post is meant for providing some safety measures to prevent your Orkut account from being hacked. There is not much you have to take care of. Just follow the simple steps and never get your orkut account hacked in your life.

1. Never try to login/access your Orkut account from sites other than Orkut.com.

2. Never click on any links from the sources you don’t trust while accessing your Orkut account.(or while accessing any other Google services like Gmail,Blogger etc.)

3. Delete any links on your scrapbook, no matter if a known or unknown person have sent it.

4. Never disclose your orkut login details with anyone.

5. Never ever use Javascripts on Orkut, no matter whatever it claims to do.Get satisfied with the services provided by default! Avoid using third party Scripts which might be malicious.

6. Never get excited to see a site claiming to have 1000 cool orkut tricks for which you have to just log in to your orkut account. Don’t trust that site. That’s a phishing site.

7. Never tick the box “REMEMBER ME” on the orkut homepage if you are surfing from a cafe or a public area.

8. Always remember to hit Sign out button, when you are done.

What to do when your Orkut Account is Hacked ?

It can be a nightmare if someone else takes control of your Google Account because all your Google services like Gmail, Orkut, Google Calendar, Blogger, AdSense, Google Docs and even Google Checkout are tied to the same account.

Here are some options suggested by Google Support when your forget the Gmail password or if someone else takes ownership of your Google Account and changes the password:

1. Reset Your Google Account Password:
Type the email address associated with your Google Account or Gmail user name at google.com/accounts/ForgotPasswd - you will receive an email at your secondary email address with a link to reset your Google Account Password. This will not work if the other person has changed your secondary email address or if you no longer have access to that address.

2. For Google Accounts Associated with Gmail:
If you have problems while logging into your Gmail account, you can consider contacting Google by filling this form. It however requires you to remember the exact date when you created that Gmail account.

3. For Hijacked Google Accounts Not Linked to Gmail:
If your Google Account doesn’t use a Gmail address, contact Google by filling this form. This approach may help bring back your Google Account if you religiously preserve all your old emails. You will be required to know the exact creation date of your Google Account plus a copy of that original “Google Email Verification” message. It may be slightly tough to get your Google Account back but definitely not impossible if you have the relevant information in your secondary email mailbox.

PLEASE READ THIS POST...

While I was busy spending some time today on Orkut I found some eye opening communities that were spreading all bulshit about India. These were all Pakistan based communities & there could exist a plenty number of many more such craps on Orkut. Though it's not at all a fault of Orkut! But there must be some safety measures in Google to detect such anti-social groups & prevent them from creating such communities. These are only a few links that I found, there could be a lot more too! Now you must be wondering, why have I posted a blog on it?

I only ask you to do a simple thing as an responsible Indian!!
You just visit these communities, see your self how pathetic, anti-social & anti-India they are and just notify Google of this by clicking 'Report Abuse'
for each one of them, or any such community/profile you encounter on Orkut in Future!
Atleast that would prevent these nuisances from Orkut, a largely popular social networking site in India!

An Article From Web-
New Delhi, Jan.7 (ANI): Some Pakistani individuals, who are on the prowl to hack important websites and misuse them by giving it Islamic or Pakistani colour, have targeted Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's famous community group on Orkut, the social networking site.

The community group holds significance for the orkut members, as it is probably the biggest platform for the young fans of former President A.P.J Abdul Kalam. And, the most of the members of this community write in it with deep affection and respect for their ideal in life. There are 207,249 members in this group.

The hackers have renamed the community originally named "Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam" as "Indian" and now using it as a platform for malicious and objectionable content.

The main profile page now reads: "We, the people of India, apologizes to our Pakistani brothers and ISI for barbaric acts of terrorism like Mumbi and Gujrat and many more which were originated and carried out by few citizens of India and supported by government of India. We condemn such acts to fullest."

The new moderators' names are very much visible on the site and show registration from Pakistan.

The incident has outraged fans of former President APJ Abdul Kalam in orkut world. They want the authorities to take all measures to prevent such incidents.

"As a regular member of many communities and the owner of "India" communityn orkut (which is Pakistani hacker's biggest target since its existence and has nearly 8 lakh members), I have faced this menace not for the first time. The unethical hackers groups usually are a bunch of intelligent guys. But they need to spend their time and energy on some constructive work like helping secure our networks rather than involving in hacking online communities," said Vishal Trivedi, owner of the "India" community (796,517 members)

"The hacking of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam community is not only unfortunate but disgusting too, as the hackers group of Pakistan, in reality, have started the whole unethical practice by hacking and defacing many Indian communities like Hinduism, Durga Puja and non-stop abusing in them. This vicious circle has no beginning or end. In order to counter such unethical activity, there is a need to spread awareness among members on social networking communities about security measures to secure their profiles," Vishal added.

"Pakistani hackers have increased their activities just after Mumbai attacks. We noticed the attacks when one of the moderators on VHP community was hacked and 3,000 members were banned. We also saw hacking of APJ Abdul Kalam community. Now they are using that community to further their anti-India propaganda. They want to spread panic. They do not have to worry about anything, as Pakistani government seems to indirectly support them," said Vikas Sankrityayan, owner of "RSS Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh community" (42,011 members).

Recent media reports stated intelligence agencies have warned about anti-India elements in Pakistan planning to attack Indian computer networks. It had warned that Pakistani hackers were trying out a dry run by hacking popular websites. (ANI)

Best email service (web based) - Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail

The top three web based email service providers are Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail and Gmail; and, probably, in that order - refer Gmail usage statistics for details. However, which of these is the best? Does the large user base of Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail make them better than Gmail? Or should the simplistic and quick loading interface of Gmail put it at the top spot? Obviously, such questions are not simple to answer - so how do we decide which is the best email service in the world?

Though there are hundreds (if not thousands) of web based email service providers, I've considered only the three most popular in this article. I suppose bringing others into the fray will just complicate matters. Keeping things simple will at least help arriving at a conclusion.

How to rate a web based email service?

This is the most difficult part. How does one rate a web based email service? Some things can be easily quantified. For example, account storage space or load time are measured in numbers. However, features of the email service like interface intuitiveness, accessibility or the flexibility cannot be judged in a straightforward manner because they will change depending on individual perceptions, location, time of day etc. So can we create a level platform for rating online email services?

The best email service is one that gets the fewest complains from its users. Yes! This can serve as a good yardstick for measuring these services. And the best place to find more on this is Google Trends.

The best email service is one with least problems

It appears that searches for Hotmail and Gmail troubles have been kind of equal. Yahoo! Mail, on the other hand seems to give the least problem to its users.

Does this mean Yahoo! Mail is the best email service? Hmmmm! The charts show the searches based on a couple of sets of keywords and nothing more. Having said that, Yahoo! Mail is the leader of the pack in terms of popularity and usage. In my opinion, a high subscriber base coupled with dependable service (with the least searches for problems) does put Yahoo! Mail a few inches before the other two in the race for the best email service.

My choices

I have been pretty used to Gmail from the very earliest since the Gmail was launched. I was first attaracted to the domain of Gmail at first site! And this love at first site soon became a longlasting relation! I recently used Microsoft's Hotmail & I am greatly impressed & satisfied with thier neat, secure & powerfull email services. I personally don't like Yahoo mail as it has many ads that make it slower & otherwise also overall performance is not much impressive. So apart from the large user base of legacy email provider Yahoo & Hotmail, My rating order will be:
1. Gmail
2. Hotmail
.

.
? Yahoo! :D

“SHOUTING Silence!!”

•If I had voice, I would have shouted my anguish loud.

If I had legs, I would have run away!
Living like a zombie, my soul yearns to breath.
Trapped inside this vicious darkness, I could’nt see a single ray!

•Nobody is solicitous for me, neither anyone cares.
Living in absolute solitude, even my shadow feels so strange.
Inside I cry a lot, but my tears are always ignored.
Engulfed in this monotony of life, I die for a change.

•I am with everyone, but nobody is for me!
I care for everyone, but nobody cares for me!
I am just as good & helpful as I could be,
But never they appreciate my endearment, never they try to see.

•People always hesitate from me, rarely they wish to speak.
Never they speak their heart, never do they try to see.
Even when I am willing to abet as much as I can.
They don’t care for my assistance, and just wish to flee.

•Always this happens, as has been happening.
Even when they are so cold, & are never concerned for me.
I trust everyone, even though the trust for them is so cheap!
I forgive you always, and for your help, always I come to thee.

•Ha! Why I talk my grievance to you?
Why do I speak, I should’nt let my emotions flow,
And should’nt try to seek trust & affection in thee!
As like everyone, you too don’t know me, & again I feel so low!

•Now have some shame & try to recognize me!
Always with you, I am your ‘Ability’ my dear, who cares about you!
You seek rarely, but I am ready to succour you!
So when you are hazy or feel low, just please my dear let me help you!!

An article on technology's role in our life. [Selfwritten]

“Power no longer flows from the barrel of gun,
Rather it flows from the click of mouse”

The older times when we used to use ink & feather as a writing aid are no longer pursued nowadays. Things have changed, as has the time. Now also writing on my laptop I am greatly thankful of Microsoft and their invention of MS word, through which I am able to write down this worthy piece of article. Times have changed since Mugh le Azm’s era and today we thrive on technology for most of our daily business.
Imagine starting your day without the technology abetting you! You won’t wake up, I bet, with out an alarm clock. Then from having your relish breakfast to rushing up at work on your favorite pair of wheels, technology is what you need most. It’s the age of science & reasoning. And technology has certainly become what is oxygen for living. There are more computers in today’s time than even the people living on earth! Almost every thing you can ponder has a computer’s intrusion. According to an estimate: By 2015 India will, at the rate it's growing, reach around 150 million PCs with about 10 million in households. There was an interesting article in India's Economic Times that confirms what a lot of people know already: Mobile web is fast becoming the primary means of accessing the web for many people, especially in developing nations. India has 9 million internet subscribers against 31 million mobile internet users who use the mobile web. About 54% of new handsets sold in 2006 were internet-enabled according to the same report. The figures come from the Indian regulator, so presumably they are reasonably accurate. The boom in telecommunication industry in the past few years is very well known. And so, even kids of class five are carrying a personal cell phone of their own. Internet, Email, Blogs, Net surfing are like very obvious stuff for today’s kids. People live their lives more on social networking sites than they socially do! Orkut’s the name we are all familiar with? Now what I am emphasizing here is an obvious fact that technology, gadgets & computers have become an integral part of our lives today. Also to match the tempo of today’s age of persistent development, we need to catch up with the rapid growing technological developments. So is quoted-

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!" - Arthur C. Clarke

Now when we talk of computers, internet obviously pops up in our minds. I guess most of the guys would agree to stay on moon for a tedious time, with only the facility of internet & pizzas with them! Internet is in fact such a powerful tool, that its merits & benefits are innumerable. With the advent of websites like Google and Wikipedia, nothing in this world is hidden from you & almost nothing is undefined! The Internet in India (I-Cube) study jointly undertaken by the Internet And Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and IMRB International reveals that Mumbai with 3.24 million ever users and 2.6 million active users, leads the pack of top 8 internet using metros in India. Delhi follows close behind with 2.66 and 1.80 million of ever and active users respectively. Emails have become what letters were in the past. And we all communicate around the world easily, just with a click of mouse! In the field of education & learning internet has become really significant. There are many students from various foreign countries who get the privilege to study online subjects like mathematics & science from very qualified brains from India, just with the aid of internet. Along with getting information on the Internet, you can also shop online. There are many online stores and sites that can be used to look for products as well as buy them using your credit card. You do not need to leave your house and can do all your shopping from the convenience of your home. It would be correct to say that literate in modern times is not just the one who can read & write, but also the person must have some cognizance of computers. If you don’t know computer, then you are as good as an illiterate today! So playing with a mouse is more prominent than playing with a pen! Bill gates once quoted-

"The great thing about a computer notebook is that no matter how much you stuff into it, it does'nt get bigger or heavier!" – Billgates

Everything comes with a price, & so does the technology. With a varied & numerous boons, technology also has many abuses of it. Apart from many useful things, there are many inhuman, unhealthy & evil things also in the capacious world of internet! Pornography is a very serious issue concerning the Internet, especially when it comes to young children. There are thousands of pornographic sites on the Internet that can be easily found and can be a detriment to letting children use the Internet. Spamming: another one of the biggest abuse of web with the aid of emails is affecting users and organizations worldwide. This refers to sending unsolicited e-mails in bulk, which serve no purpose and unnecessarily clog up the entire system. Hacking is another destructive abuse of internet in the web world. According to a BBC news report of 30th April’2001 a hacker group, of group leader ‘Lion’, based in china initiated a coordinated offensive against computer networks in US. The hacker attacks were intended as retaliation for the death of a Chinese pilot in the recent incident involving an American spyplane. Sites run by the US labour and health departments were broken into and altered. US suffered a huge loss of capital & time. Hacker groups like China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) have targeted many nations like US, UK, Germany, Australia, France and New Zealand. Today terrorists need not be much armed to cause a heavy damage to a nation, because today power of mouse is much more sufficient than the power of nukes or any other weapons.
Apart from having various boons and banes, the most clear and obvious fact is that the power of technology and particularly internet is beyond elucidation. Today we can’t think of living and developing further, without the assistance of technology. Some inhuman people might find ways of abusing technology, but then technology only helps us & acts against them. And thus it is correct to say that “The click of mouse can be more forceful than the boom of explosive!”

27th-Jul'09 - A lovely day in CP !! [Selfwritten]

Today I woke up as usual normally at about 8.30 AM. I started lazily, had breakfast & opened my laptop. After about an hour I started TV & watched watever! At 1 "O" Clock Manish called up. Manish is a very good friend of mine. An old friend from school. He is really a good fellow, a gem of a person! I was planning a haircut, so I thought lets get it done today! I went for his home, though only 10minutes away, still took me 25 minutes(due to a very big traffic jam)! Not a very good start of the day. Lol. Also it was very hot TILL THAT TIME!
I had the haircut then went to his home. Then all of a sudden we decided for going to Cannaught Place(CP). CP is a very cool place to hang out in Delhi! I really love the place! The food, people & stuff are great here. It's an ideal place for shoppers!
Here is the local map of CP in Delhi-

AT CP the first requirement was to have some drinks!
We searched for CP and found a very descent Restaurant cum lounge called "Mirchi"!
I sincerely recommend you people please go there! It's really a very nice place with a lovely environment & a much lovelier waitresses lol!!
Seriously the environment of shower side wooden seats with cool breeze of fresh air & a well air conditioned climate! It was great! This is an ideal place for family outing or friends hangout or maybe even corporate get-together!
Well this time me & my friend Manish were chilling out!
We called for an waiter asked for menu. Honestly it was costly for us, but as we wanted only a drink, so we ordered only a bottle of beer. It was about thrice of it's normal price, but the rate was worth it! I was gazing at the shining beer being poured in my glass so prefectly! & both of our mouths were watering! At first we thought it won't matter at all to have only 1 glass of Kingfisher Strong, yeah that was the brand!,as we could have 2 bottles of it easily! but we were terribly wrong!...
We enjoyed our drinks, had a great time! Chit chatted. And when we left... Yeah when we stand up.. I realised that Manish was right that the beer is a bit strong! It worked dude, only a glass of it!, & we were spinning in joy!
Here are the picks of Mirchi, thanks to that waiter!-

After that our next plan was to eat something good... preferably non-veg!
Now if you are wondering about a good non-veg restaurant with lots of variety & an Indian touch! then KFC is not the place. Very near to "Mirchi" in PVR Plaza, is a place in CP called "Nizam" this is a place you should try! Go for it! I recommend it more than KFC! Although both may not be compared.. as KFC has a different style!
We had a LOT, really a whole lots of food at "Nizam's Kathi Kabab". It took around 700 to 800 bucks of Indian money! But the food is very economical, tasty & unique! These were the things we had in a single day!!-
1. Mutton seekh kabab
2. Mutton Biryani
3. A double chicken- double egg roll
4. One Keema kaleji kalimirchi with rumali rotees.

Trust me the food was finger eating tasty! We enjoyed a lot! It was a great & lovely time. We were filled till our neck! But the thirst of "Mirchi's" special beer was recollecting! We both wanted some more good beer @ Mirchi but we already had a lot of food! So we decided to just walk around in cp for few minutes before we go again to Mirchi! In this mean time we were unaware of the arrival of the very awaited Mr.Monsoon! The climate was really cloudy, cool & awesome with a little droplets since evening! & to roam in CP in such great weather, with ofcourse all good chicks hanging around!, was breath taking! We clicked some pics while roaming-

Then we went for "Mirchi" to have one more beer! This time sadly kingfisher was not available & a brand called "Sand piper" was there. We thought scottish beers are good & went for it but dude stay away from that brand!... It's a pure mineral water! lol!
By now it started raining heavily! The rain was continuing since evening. Even at the time we left for cp. But it was not that heavy till then! This rain did'nt stopped & went more & more heavy!.. that we were not expecting!! So we stayed there for longer chilling, enjoying having Ice- creams!, Yeah we had ice-creams too in such heavy rains!!
At the end we managed to went near Manish's home via metro. But then without any vehicles availibility.. we went on foot for about 5 minutes in heavy rains!!
It was fun walking in rain in such cool weather! Although a bit tired, we were troubled by the rains too.
Then my buddy Manish dropped me to home by his car. Thank god we had a car, else there was no vehicle's avail & the rains were really heavy!!

Overall a truly great day!!! We enjoyed a lot!..Yeah a LOT!!
& thus it worths blogging!! :)

How to Write a Poem

How to Write a Poem

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Writing a poem is all about observing the world within you or around you. You can write about anything from love to the rusty gate at the old farm. As long as you are enjoying it or finding it releases something from inside you, you're on the right track.

Steps

  1. Read and listen to poetry. Whether someone who has never seen a sonnet nor heard haiku can truly be a poet is an open question. It is almost certain, though, that any poet who has been published or who has garnered any following enhanced their skills by reading or listening to good poetry, even if they later scoffed at conventional notions of what was "good." "Good" poems fall into three categories: those that are recognized as classics, those that seem to be popular, and those that you personally like. Poems typically being short, there is no reason not to explore plenty of both.
  2. Find a spark. A poem may be born as a snippet of verse, maybe just a line or two that seems to come out of nowhere. That's what's usually called inspiration, and once you have that beginning you simply need to flesh it out, to build the rest of the poem around it.At other times you may want to write about a specific thing or idea. If this is the case, do a little planning. Write down all the words and phrases that come to mind when you think of that idea. Allow yourself to put all your ideas into words. It may sound difficult, but do not be afraid to voice your exact feelings. Emotions are what make poems, and if you lie about your emotions it can be easily sensed in the poem. Write them down as quickly as possible, and when you're done, go through the list and look for connections or certain items that get your creative juices flowing.
  3. Think about what you want to achieve with your poem. Perhaps you want to write a poem to express your love for your boyfriend or girlfriend; perhaps you want to commemorate a tragic event; or maybe you just want to get an "A" in your poetry class. Think about why you are writing your poem and who your intended audience is, and then proceed in your writing accordingly.
  4. Decide what poetry style suits your subject. There are a great many different poetic styles. [1]. If you see "Winter icicles / plummeting like Enron stock..." perhaps you've got a haiku in your head. As a poet, you have a wide variety of set forms to choose from: limericks, sonnets, villanelles ... the list goes on and on. You may also choose to abandon form altogether and write your poem in free verse. While the choice may not always be as obvious as the example above, the best form for the poem will usually manifest itself during your writing.
  5. Listen to your poem. While many people today have been exposed to poetry only in written form, poetry was predominantly an aural art for thousands of years, and the sound of a poem is still important. As you write and edit your poem, read it aloud and listen to how it sounds.
  6. Write down your thoughts as they come to you. Don't edit as you write, or do edit as you write - the choice is yours. However, you should try both methods at least a couple times to see what works best for you.
  7. Choose the right words. It's been said that if a novel is "words in the best order," then a poem is "the best words in the best order." Think of the words you use as building blocks of different sizes and shapes. Some words will fit together perfectly, and some won't. You want to keep working at your poem until you have built a strong structure of words. Use only those words that are necessary, those that enhance the meaning of the poem. Choose your words carefully. The differences between similar sounding words or synonyms can lead to interesting word play.
  8. Use concrete imagery and vivid descriptions.
    • Love, hate, happiness: these are all abstract concepts. Many, maybe all, poems are, deep down, about emotions and other abstractions, but it's hard to build a strong poem using only abstractions - it's just not interesting. The key, then, is to replace or enhance abstractions with concrete images, things that you can appreciate with your senses: a rose, a shark, or a crackling fire, for example. The concept of the objective correlative may be useful. An objective correlative is an object, several objects, or a series of events (all concrete things) that evoke the emotion or idea of the poem.
    • Really powerful poetry not only uses concrete images; it also describes them vividly. Show your readers and listeners what you're talking about--help them to experience the imagery of the poem. Put in some "sensory" handles. These are words that describe the things that you hear, see, taste, touch, and smell, so that the reader can identify with their own experience. Give some examples rather than purely mental/intellectual descriptions. For example: "He made a loud sound" versus "He made a loud sound like a hippo eating 100 stale pecan pies with metal teeth".

  9. Use poetic devices to enhance your poem's beauty and meaning. The most well known poetic device is rhyme. Rhyme can add suspense to your lines, enhance your meaning, or make the poem more cohesive. It can also make it prettier. Don't overuse rhyme. It's a crime. In fact you don't have to use rhyme at all. Other poetic devices include meter, metaphor, assonance, alliteration, and repetition. If you don't know what these are, you may want to look in a poetry book or search the internet. Poetic devices can make a poem or, if they bring too much attention to themselves, they can ruin it.
  10. Save your most powerful message or insight for the end of your poem. The last line is to a poem what a punch line is to a joke--something that evokes an emotional response. Give the reader something to think about, something to dwell on after reading your poem. Resist the urge to explain it; let the reader become engaged with the poem in developing an understanding of your experience or message.
  11. Edit your poem. When the basic poem is written, set it aside for awhile and then read the poem out loud to yourself. Go through it and balance the choice of words with the rhythm. Take out unnecessary words and replace imagery that isn't working. Some people edit a poem all at once, while others come back to it again and again over time. Don't be afraid to rewrite if some part of the poem is not working. Sometimes you just can't fix something that essentially doesn't work.
  12. Get opinions. It can be hard to critique your own work, so after you've done an initial edit, try to get some friends or a poetry group (there are plenty online) to look at your poem for you. You may not like all their suggestions, and you don't have to take any of them, but you might find some insight that will make your poem better. Feedback is good. Pass your poem around, and ask your friends to critique your work. Tell them to be honest, even if it's painful. Filter their responses or ignore them altogether and edit as you see fit.

Tips

  • Do you find that you never feel inspired when you sit down to write a poem? It's a common problem, and you can solve it by carrying a notebook with you everywhere in which you can jot down poem ideas as they come to you. Then, when you're ready to write, just get out the notebook and find an idea that catches your fancy.
  • You might want to listen to soothing music or look at pictures to calm and inspire you.
  • Don't forget that surprise makes art (writing) extra special. If you're going to drag out the tired old rose metaphor in a love poem, put your own twist on it.
  • Don't give up. You'll probably find that your poems become better and easier to write as you write more of them.
  • Poems can make a great gift.
  • Keep all of your poetry in a book whether you like it or not. In the future, you might be able to salvage some of the throwaways or publish your best work.
  • When writing poetry, try to plan it out, use all the senses and base it on one or two main ideas.
  • Avoid cliches or overused images. "The world is your oyster," is neither a brilliant nor an original observation.
  • If you are writing a poem to be sent to a newspaper or a family-friendly magazine, choose your words and topic with care. You don't want the paper to censor your original work or reject it because of profanity.
  • Try to think of words that rhyme before you put them down on paper. This saves you from erasing over, and over again.

Warnings

  • Avoid sharing your work with people who do not appreciate poetry. This is a mistake that can discourage you from being a poet. It is often difficult to explain that you are just trying your hand at something new. The best thing to do is ask someone you know who will support you (who also happens to appreciate the art of the written word) to kindly critique you.
  • To guard against plagiarism, do what you can to reinforce your copyrights to your work. One way to do this is to make a copy of your work, seal it into an envelope, place a stamp on it, and mail it back to yourself. When you receive it in the mail, don't open it. The un-opened envelope can provide additional evidence that you are the copyright holder should it ever be in question, although it is not guaranteed to prove it in court.
  • If you have too much imagery, it can actually hurt your poem. "Explosively radiating sunshine slammed through my window" is just over the top.
  • If you want others to read your poetry, ask yourself "If somebody else showed me this, would I like it?" If the answer is "no," edit the poem some more.
  • If you're simply brimming with ideas and inspiration, don't try to fit it all into one poem. You'll have the chance to write more in the future.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper
  • Pen/Pencil
  • Time
  • Great idea(s)

Orb Bluetooth headset redefines the ear-ring

Although Bluetooth headsets have come a long way in the style stakes, you can still look and feel a bit like a dork getting about town with one permanently affixed to your ear. Also, since they are usually designed to mold to the shape of the ear, they can be a little awkward to stuff in a pocket when not in use. An innovative new Bluetooth headset called the Orb solves this problem by transforming from a wireless earpiece into a ring that can be worn on your finger. Read More

Inventions that changed the world: Mikhail Kalashnikov's AK-47

It's the most effective killing machine in human history - a gun that, on its 62nd birthday, is still killing as many as a quarter of a million people every year, in every corner of the globe. Invented by a gifted tank mechanic to save Russia's motherland from the invading German hordes in WW2, the AK-47 went on to rise to global prominence during the proxy battles of the Cold War. Even today, a poorly trained militia group can become a force to be reckoned with once it finds a supply of AK-47s - such is its simplicity, reliability, affordability and sheer killing power. Abhorrent - yes, but with reference to its impact on humanity it is, sadly, among the greatest inventions of the 20th century. We take a look at this amazing weapon's history, its significance and its brutal dominance of world politics. Listen to the Podcast or Read More

A poem relating life with drama! [Selfwritten]

The Drama Of Life

Ø Sometimes I wonder about, what we call as life.

Despite every effort I make, I don’t get what is it.

Only “The condition of being alive”, as the dictionary defines,

Or is a phenomenal enigma, which we know only a bit!

Ø Whatever it is, I can bet, is a conundrum for all of us.

Which keeps moving with the wheels of time & is experienced by every one.

Some times sweet, sometimes sour & a little bit bitter too.

But ironically the fact is that, it is understood by none!

Ø People put on faces with different colours.

As if part of a drama, each has a different role to play.

Ofcourse lead is played by you only chum.

And many characters are such, who’ll never cross your way!

Ø You might marvel that who is the play writer?

And from where has the script come, if there exists any!

My dear He, the almighty, is the play writer & creator.

Who has generated the script & which you call as destiny!

Ø People perform their act & live different episodes of the drama.

But the sole aim of all is to touch the zenith & make a name.

I myself believe that such a gifted human life must be utilized,

To give the world something more than it has already,&not to leave it all the same.

Ø Ordinarily, like in a drama, there are villains important to the plot!

But uniquely in this drama of life, they are more than one.

Critics, as we are cognizant, are those villains in this drama.

Who always find flaws in you, but also make you learn!

Ø As a risen sun always sets, everything commenced has to end.

The climax of the drama is an immaculate certainty called death!

This seemingly long drama of life is like a sweet fable,

And the moral is-- You keep learning till you have breath!
